Merchant Settings in Commerce
What is Merchant Mix?
In the Sovrn Platform, you can control the merchants to which Sovrn directs your traffic. This allows you to optimize towards your business goals by selecting between different pricing types, such as CPA (Cost Per Action), CPC (Cost Per Click), and RTB (Real-Time Bidding).
How do I manage Merchant Mix Settings?
Merchant Mix settings can be found in the Sovrn Platform here. You can navigate there by:
Login to your Sovrn account.
Find Merchant under the Settings tab in Commerce.
On this page you'll find the Merchant Mix module. You'll be able to adjust your settings by toggling CPC on or off (see descriptions below for more information).
Who can manage your Merchant Mix Settings?
If you are unable to change these settings or do not see Merchant settings in the Sovrn Platform, it's likely because you are not the primary owner of the account.
The primary owner on the account is indicated by an info icon on the line of the email address in the Manage users section of the Sovrn Platform.
Only the primary owner can perform these actions. Your options are to:
Contact the primary owner on the account to perform these actions for you
Contact the primary owner to request that they contact Sovrn Support to make you the new primary owner, so you can be the one to perform these actions moving forward.
What is CPA, CPC and RTB?
Find more information about CPA and CPC in Analytics in Commerce, including the implications you may see to your revenue.
Real-time bidding (RTB) enables affiliate purchasers to simultaneously compete for individual clicks across numerous websites. RTB's key benefits include enhanced accuracy in reaching desired demographics and improved cost-per-click (CPC) efficiencies, ultimately leading to higher earnings. Here's a great resource for learning more about RTB.
What are my options for Merchant Mix settings?
In your Merchant settings, you will be able to enable or disable CPC demand. We recommend that you have CPC enabled as this has the highest earning potential with access to all Sovrn merchants (over 50,000). With all merchants enabled, merchants can pay you based on cost-per-action (CPA) or cost-per-click (CPC). We will also send your clicks through our automated, real-time bidding (RTB) process to ensure you earn the most from every click. We recommend this for most publishers because you are eligible to earn with more merchants and are likely to earn the most revenue with this mix.
You can disable CPC demand as well, which will enable you to monetize only on a cost-per-action (CPA) basis.
Can I block CPC and affiliate only with CPA programs?
Yes, however we do not recommend this for most publishers. This limits the revenue you are eligible to receive, and you may see your revenue decrease. You should only do this if you're confident your traffic is competitive for CPA merchants. You will lose any revenue you?re currently earning via CPC.
Can I block CPC/CPA programs for specific merchant programs?
At this time, you cannot apply CPC/CPA blocks for specific merchant program in the platform. If you would like to do this, please reach out to the support team via support@sovrn.com to apply these blocks.
How soon will my changes take effect?
It takes 15 mins to take effect, after you've saved and confirmed your changes.
I still need help.
Please reach out to Sovrn Support with any questions. We're happy to review your account and make suggestions for which Merchant Mix is right for you.
