Ad Exchange: Fall 2025 Impression Tracking Update

We’re aligning our impression tracking methodology to fit industry standards to ensure data consistency and billing accuracy. In our most recent product release, Sovrn is transitioning our impression tracking methodologies towards bill-on-view (BOV).

What’s New:

Sovrn is transitioning our impression tracking methodology in a phased approach towards bill-on-view. In this impression tracking model, advertisers are charged only when an ad is actually viewable to a user, rather than simply when it’s served.

Who This Affects:

These changes are applying to all publishers monetizing web or mobile app display inventory through the Sovrn Exchange. Video inventory and CTV is not affected by this change.

What To Expect:

This impression tracking method will start with DV360 in particular and apply when DV360 has won the auction. Nothing will change if the impression is viewable, however, if the impression is not, then the impression will not be logged.

In order to ensure that your reporting aligns with this new standard, please refer to the bid response that you receive from DV360.

FAQs:

  • How do I track which impressions were logged by DV360?

    • Please utilize the Seat ID value for DV360 in your reporting: 23.

  • Will invoicing be impacted by this change?

    • Because bill-on-view only compensates for impressions that are actually viewable, partners with lower viewability rates may see a decrease in revenue compared to previous reporting. Improving viewability can help ensure you capture the full value of your traffic.
