To create an ad tag, log in to your Sovrn Platform account and navigate to the Ad Tags tab under Advertising.
From there, click + Ad Tag in the top right corner. A window will open where you can configure the details of your new tag:
-
Name your tag. Sovrn recommends using a naming convention that reflects where and how the tag will be used — for example, the domain, page position, and ad size. Some examples:
-
site1.com_sidebar_300x250 -
Home_ATF_728x90 -
mywebsite_prebid_160x600
-
-
Select your ad type. Choose from the available ad sizes in the dropdown. Each size is categorized as either Desktop or Mobile. You can also select Multi-size tag if you want a single tag that supports multiple ad sizes — from there, you'll set a default ad unit size along with your other configurations.
-
Choose your ad size. The top-performing sizes are 728x90, 300x250, and 160x600 — these have the highest advertiser demand and typically generate the best revenue. Sizes like 250x250, 468x60, and 120x600 are standard IAB sizes but see significantly less demand.
-
Set a CPM floor price. This is the minimum bid you'll accept on the tag. Sovrn recommends starting at $0.00 for the first few weeks to maximize fill and get a baseline read on performance. You can gradually increase the floor once you understand how your inventory performs.
-
(Optional) Add a passback tag. Sovrn is not a 100% fill solution, so you should configure a passback tag from another provider (like AdSense) to capture unfilled impressions. To do this, click Edit tag under tag Actions, then click Optional settings to enter your passback tag.
Once your tag is created, you'll find the Tag ID in the Ad Tags table — you'll need this for specific implementation methods with Sovrn, such as Prebid. For guidance on implementing your tag, see the Getting Started with Sovrn Ad Exchange guides for your specific implementation.
