How do I block a specific demand partner from bidding on my inventory?

Blocking a demand partner (DSP) or bidder is not something you can configure yourself in the Sovrn Platform — the Ad Quality tool blocks ads (by category, attribute, advertiser URL, creative ID, or brand), not the bidders delivering them. To block a specific demand partner from bidding on your inventory, reach out to Sovrn Support and request that the demand partner be disabled for your account.

Demand partner blocks vs. advertiser blocks in Ad Exchange

A demand partner is the bidding platform (DSP) that purchases your inventory; an advertiser or brand is the company whose ad ultimately renders.

If your goal is to stop a specific advertiser's ads — regardless of which demand partner delivers them — Sovrn recommends using these self-serve blocks in the Ad Quality tab instead of a demand partner block:

  • URL Blocks – Prevent ads from specific advertiser domains.

  • Brand Blocks – Block ads from specific brands or advertisers.

  • Creative ID Blocks – Exclude individual ad creatives by their unique ID.

These blocks apply across all demand partners, so the unwanted ad is stopped no matter who bids it in. For setup steps, see How do I block an ad from appearing on my inventory?

Why blocking a demand partner affects revenue

Blocking an entire demand partner removes every advertiser that partner represents from the auction for your inventory. This reduces bid density and competition, which can significantly impact revenue — much more than a targeted URL, brand, or creative block. Sovrn recommends treating demand partner blocks as a last resort and using the narrowest block that solves the problem.
