Does Sovrn support bcat or badv values in a bid request?

Yes. Sovrn Ad Exchange supports both bcat (blocked categories) and badv (blocked advertiser domains) when they are passed to Sovrn in a bid request. Sovrn will pass these values downstream to demand partners so the blocks are honored at auction time. To learn more about how to pass these values properly, please refer to the latest version of the oRTB Spec via the IAB Tech Lab.

How many bcat and badv values you should pass per bid request

Sovrn will try to pass on as many bcat and badv values as possible. However, Sovrn recommends passing no more than 50 values in each field, as some demand partners may not be able to process more than that. Keeping each list at or under 50 values gives your blocks the best chance of being honored by every demand partner bidding on your inventory.

When to use the Ad Quality tool instead of bid-level blocks

Bid-level bcat and badv values only apply when they are included in a given bid request. If you want something more concrete — a block that is enforced in the Sovrn Platform regardless of what's passed in any individual bid request — you should use the Ad Quality tool to establish the block at the account, group, or site level instead.

The Ad Quality tool supports blocking by IAB category, specialty category, creative attribute, advertiser URL, creative ID, and brand. For setup steps, see How do I block an ad from appearing on my inventory?

Note for CTV and In-App inventory: The Ad Quality tool works with CTV (Connected TV) and In-App integrations only at the account level — bundle-level blocking is not currently supported. For blocks narrower than account-wide on CTV or In-App inventory, bid-level bcat and badv values are the recommended approach.
