No — not every line Sovrn provides is strictly required to monetize with Sovrn. The lines marked DIRECT for sovrn.com and lijit.com are required, because they authorize Sovrn itself to sell your inventory. The lines marked RESELLER are optional: you can remove them and still monetize with Sovrn.
Why Sovrn recommends keeping the RESELLER lines
Sovrn does not recommend removing the RESELLER lines. Each RESELLER entry authorizes a demand partner to bid on your inventory through an additional supply path. If Sovrn chooses not to bid on an impression, those requests can be routed to authorized resellers who may want to bid on the inventory instead.
Removing a RESELLER line eliminates that partner's ability to spend on your inventory entirely. Fewer authorized paths means fewer bids competing in the auction, which typically translates to lower fill and lower overall revenue. The lines are optional, but they exist to work in your favor.
Which lines you must never remove
The lijit.com lines marked DIRECT are required for Sovrn to serve ads on your inventory at all. http://Lijit.com is Sovrn's ad serving domain, and removing these lines will break ad delivery — see Can I remove the lijit.com lines from my ads.txt file? for details.
If you're unsure whether a specific line in your file is safe to remove, compare your file against the lines in your Sovrn account here or contact Sovrn Support before making changes.
